Meet The Most AMAZING Birds
StarGazer is another second generation Wings of Love performer with show business in his blood. He sings a song "I am a star..." The green-winged macaws are the fourth largest types of parrots (in size are the hyacinth macaws, Lear's macaws, Buffon's macaws, then the green-winged macaws) and originate from Panama, the southernmost Central American country, and six South American countries.

Pinocchio is a very playful green aracari; the smallest of the 80+ species of toucans originating in Central and South America. Pinocchio is one of our magical birds as audience participants 'magically hatch' her from an egg. The photo taken by owner Yvonne Patterson of Pinocchio (on the Events page) was been published in the first complete book on toucans by Tex Strater entitled "Toucan Lexicon".

Charlemagne, or Charlie, is another of our magically produced birds. Charlie is a living miracle as she was rescued from a drug house in Kansas City. She was so sick with viral and bacterial infections, the same of which immediately killed one of the three clutchmates purchased by owner Yvonne, that it was a miracle she survived.
Tiki Toco Toucan is the largest member of the toucan family. The toco's make quite loving birds, if purchased as hand-fed instead of parent-reared. Tiki is THE naughty bird of Wings of Love. He is always getting off his perch during a show, hopping towards people he wants to meet, or hopping over to another bird and grabbing their toes in his long beak.
Mr. Bo Jangles loves to express his fun-loving character to everyone he meets. Watch out if you're a college-aged looking young man as you will remind him of his first couple years at a Nebraska frat house where he was teased and learned some horrific language. Fortunately he no longer repeats any of his college chants. He loves to dance, thus his name, and he dances whenever someone sings to him while keeping with any beat.
Uala is the 'trickster' of the show who knows most of the tricks. He is the eldest son of Snowball, whom owner Yvonne Patterson has had since 1969. The large Moluccan cockatoos (also called salmon-crested) have broad backward-curved dark salmon crests. These are one of the top 50 most endangered birds in the world due to logging in Ceram and the southern Moluccas Islands of Indonesia {formerly the Spice Islands}.
Gizmo is our best public speaker. She is a yellow-naped Amazon who makes everyone laugh with the funny things she says. When we performed for the Missouri Pilots Association, it was the first time she got a resounding "YES" in answer to her favorite question, "I can talk, can you fly?" You may hear her do some of her famous whistling Dixie, or talking like a CB radio.
Snowball was imported into the U.S. (captured in the wild) in 1969 as nobody was breeding these birds back then.  He is as loving as any of his offspring, plays like a hand-raised bird, and is very friendly to people.  Interestingly, he is also the only bird in the flock that has never been to a veterinarian.
Sterling is a very sweet African grey parrot; greys are well known for their wonderful mimicry abilities. Sterling loves to imitate everything she hears, and while at home mimics everything from phones ringing with various phone conversations, to an audience clapping and laughing. African grey parrots are such incredible sound machines; you never want to have one living near your bedroom or bathroom...lest you don't mind being embarrassed by her imitating you passing gas...
Everybody loves Cosmo the triton cockatoo after she tells them "I love you!" This type of cockatoo originates in New Guinea and adjacent islands of the S. Pacific. A triton's crest feathers divide into three sections, hence the name 'triton'. Cosmo is sometimes used in a magic trick.

Jaco-roni Macaroni is a yellow-collared mini macaw. The smaller macaws, or minis, are easier to manage yet have the fun personality of a large macaw. Jaco is physically 'wound up' in the show (swung around in large circles) which is her cue to say "Hello" to everybody.

Miss Zuri (pun intended ~ we're in Missouri) and hubby Chelsea are severely endangered hyacinth macaws. Chelsea has been known as "Larry Bird" in our shows because of his awesome birdie basketball skills. During the breeding season (December - May) these birds may not be available for public appearances; there are three groups of hyacinths in the wild and these are the only two birds we breed.

Gus Bluebeard is our newest bird; he is a caninde (blue-throated) macaw, which is easily differentiated from the blue and gold macaw by size, the blue (not black) throat, the blue (not green) forehead, and the turquoise-blue wings and tail. Approximately 120 individuals remain in the wild. Bluebeard is fully flighted in our shows.

You may find our Australian diamond dove Baby Cakes inside a Bible or hiding in a box, waiting to be discovered by a toddler who gets to pet him during the show. Our third generation 5" dove is endearing to audiences because it is the smallest of the Wings of Love birds.
